Delores Billman Scholarship

We are pleased to introduce the Delores Billman Scholarship to the Prison Braille community. Established by Carri Darby-LaGioia and Yulianna Espinoza, this scholarship pays tribute to Delores Billman, whose unwavering support played a pivotal role in transforming their lives by providing the opportunity to join the Delores Billman Braille Facility (formerly known as the Mountain View Braille Facility). Mrs. Billman’s advocacy for prison braille programs and her steadfast belief in the potential of individuals like Carri, Yulianna, and many others have paved the way for successful careers post-release.

As individuals who have navigated the challenges of reentry, Carri and Yulianna established this scholarship not only to honor Delores but also to support participants of braille programs as they transition back into society.

We kindly ask that you share this scholarship application with participants of Prison Braille Programs, as well as with those who have been recently released or are nearing release. The application includes comprehensive details on eligibility requirements and submission procedures.
